Mr. William Leonard “Buddy” Gibson Jr., age 82, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026, at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 18, 1943 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late William Leonard and Addie Lola Brewer Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law Virgil and Barbara Gibson, Jerry Gibson, Grady and Audrey Gibson, sisters and brothers-in-law Josephine and Gene Hall, Katherine and Luke Holland, Joyce Gibson, Frank Langham, father-in-law and mother-in-law Prince and Ada Beam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene Beam Gibson of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Diana Gibson of Chatsworth, GA; grandsons, Blaine Gibson, Bryce Gibson of Chatsworth, GA; great granddaughter AnnaCait Gibson of Chatsworth, GA; sister, Anna Ruth Langham of Chatsworth, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Waymond and Martha Gibson of Dalton, GA, Ronnie and Loretta Gibson, Charlotte Gibson of Chatsworth, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie “Bud” Beam, Claude Beam, Pauline and Steve Witherow of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. William Leonard “Buddy” Gibson Jr. will be held Monday June 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bobby Green and Reverend Mike Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Murray Memorial Gardens with Blaine Gibson, Bryce Gibson, Jeff Gibson, John Langham, Bryan Gibson and Waymond Gibson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
