Sarah Jane McCurdy, age 87, of Dalton, departed this life, Friday September 18, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Grace Hill; grandson, Gregory Duane McCurdy; and brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Irene Hill.

Sarah was a member of Salem Baptist Church and during her working years she was a claims manager at World Carpet. Her most important job was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.

Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Clifford McCurdy, sons and daughter-in-law, Gary McCurdy, Greg and Elaina McCurdy; daughter, Melinda McCurdy Ault; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby Patterson, Theresa and Jerry Shook; grandchildren, Haden (Marisa) McCurdy, Gage McCurdy, Misti (Shane) Cloer, Allison Ault, Aaron Ault; great-grandchildren, Hunter and McKinley Cloer, and Kennedy McCurdy; also, several nieces and nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends, Sunday September 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Julian Peeples Pleasant Grove Chapel.

Service to celebrate the life of Sarah Jane McCurdy will be held, Monday September 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from Julian Peeples Pleasant Grove Chapel with Rev. Billy Willis and Rev. Randy Postell officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church’s “Friends to Others” Sunday School Class or The American Renal Association.
