Mr. Roger Lee Stanley, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born January 26, 1955, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Floyd Eugene and Ella Mae Vaughn Stanley. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dillion and Doris Ponder.

Roger was a man who truly loved the outdoors. He found great joy in fishing and hunting, and some of his happiest moments were spent in nature. He had a special passion for fishing, even crafting his own lures by hand, with chartreuse always being his favorite color of choice. Whether on the water or in the woods, Roger was in his element, and he cherished the peace and simplicity those moments brought him.

Above all, Roger loved his family dearly and treasured the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Ponder Stanley of the residence; children and spouses, Barry Stanley, Samantha and Chris Welch, Christopher and Alisha Stanley, all of Dalton, GA, and Ashley and Josh Mull of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Jayden Stanley, Hannah Stanley, River Stanley, Lane Welch, Bryson Mull, Hayden Mull, and Lona Mull; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Karen Stanley; along with several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Roger Lee Stanley will be held Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Charles Heard officiating. He will be laid to rest on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m., April 13, 2026, at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Bryson Mull, Trey Hasty, Terrence “Bubba” Ellsworth, Jake Long, Amos Heard, and Josh Mull will serve as pallbearers. Hayden Mull, River Stanley, and Lane Welch will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Sunday after 12:00 p.m. Noon until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made for his final expenses.
