Rev. Robert “Bobby” Thearl Souther, age 88, of Chatsworth passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Robert loved serving the Lord. Throughout his life, he pastored several churches: Welcome Valley Baptist (two different times), Lakeview Baptist, Mt. Moriah Baptist, Midway Baptist, Cool Springs Baptist, and Mt. Olive Baptist. Robert loved gardening, watching different sports and old country westerns, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Bartley Souther; parents, Berry and Lona Souther; sisters, Dorothy Harper and Kathleen Grady; son-in-law, Steve Ross; and niece, Sharleen Jones.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Souther Ross; son, Mont Souther; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Alawayne Souther; grandchildren, Hilary Ross, Stephen Ross, Dereck and Jessica Souther, Colton Souther and Jenny Hartmann; great-grandchildren, Reece Dixon, Anniston Ross, Jameson and MacAllen “BigMac” Souther; nieces, Angie Souther, Shirley Ridley, Toni Ashe, and Freida Morgan; nephews, Mitchell Souther and Lynn Hewitt; and extended family.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Rev. Robert “Bobby” Souther will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Beason, Rev. Donnie Flood, Rev. James Nix, and Rev. Ashley Parrott officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
