Mr. Kenneth “Wayne” Pressnell, age 67, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, February 27, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.Wayne was born April 9, 1958, in Rossville, Georgia, a son of the late George Kenneth Pressnell and Martha Jane Sansom Pressnell. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gene Hollifield.A 1976 graduate of Rossville High School, Wayne dedicated more than forty years of faithful service as a metal fabricator at Astec Industries in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He took great pride in his work and in the many friendships he built throughout his career.Music was one of Wayne’s greatest passions. He served as the bass player for the gospel group Poet Voices, sharing his love of music and faith with countless audiences. His dedication and talent led to his induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and he had the distinct honor of playing on the Grand Ole Opry stage. Wayne’s love for gospel music was not only a talent but a ministry that touched many lives.Wayne was a proud patriot who deeply supported the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. He openly displayed his love and respect for the troops and took great pride in honoring them and was honored riding with the Patriot Guard Riders on several occasions to accompany veterans to the National Cemetery.He enjoyed life to the fullest. Wayne loved attending car shows, riding his Harley Davidson, participating in toy runs for children during the Christmas season, and being involved with several motorcycle groups in Chattanooga. He also enjoyed attending trade shows with friends, where his humor and outgoing personality made him known as “the life of the party.” So much so, his friends had T-shirts printed that read, “It’s Not the Same Without Wayne.”Wayne met the love of his life, Teresa, at the Acoustic Café in Ringgold, Georgia. Their love story became one of devotion, laughter, and family. Above all else, Wayne cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved deeply and wholeheartedly.He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Pressnell of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Rachel Pressnell, Kramer and Jessica Pressnell, all of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and Jackson Pressnell of Chickamauga, Georgia; daughters and son-in-law, Michelle Pressnell of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Hannah Varner, Kourtney and Brandon Husser, and Ashley Taylor, all of Dalton, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Helton of Rossville, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sarah Pressnell of Chattanooga, Tennessee; special niece, Betty Helton of Lafayette, Georgia; mother-in-law, Bonnie Ernestine Holifield; sister-in-law, Cindy Manis; brothers-in-law, Rodney Hollifield of Dalton, Georgia, and Darin Hollifield of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Wayne Pressnell will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend James Helton and Greg Renegar officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Donald Bain, Lebron Eller, Ricky Byrd, Nicki Byrd, Stan Gravitt, and Mitch Woods will serve as pallbearers. The Patriot Guard Riders will escort him on his final ride.The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning until the service hour.Arrangements are entrusted to Ponders Melrose Chapel, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton, Georgia 30721. “Your Selected Independent Funeral Home.”
