Mr. Jonathan David “Detroit” Busie, age 59, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, August 18, 2026, at the Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born October 7, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father Reverend Freeman Busie, brothers Phillip Otis Busie, Ronald Stephen Busie, sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Edward Lamar Paynter, father-in-law Morris Allen Jones.

David was a devoted husband, father, son, best buddy, loving grandfather, brother, best father-in-law, had the biggest heart and was always there for anyone in need. He was a lover of music, song writer, singer and musician. He had many bands, grew up in church, loved God and all his family, always the biggest inspiration and uplifting us all with his joy and positivity. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons, wrestling and Rock and Roll.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Busie of the residence; mother, Lexie Busie of Dalton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Bryan Norton of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Jayden Busie, Laura Norton, Caleb Norton, Tara Norton, Cheyann Norton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Freeman Ben and Ilene Busie of Calhoun, GA, James and Diane Busie, Michael and Lorie Busie of Tunnel Hill, GA, Marvin and Zelma Busie of Virginia, and Betty Busie of Dalton, GA; mother-in-law, Pauline Jones; brother-in-love, Robert and Teresa Jones, sister-in-love, Joann and Kimm Murphy; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jonathan David “Detroit” Busie will be held Saturday August 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ben Busie and Reverend James Busie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Jayden Busie, Taylor Paynter, Daniel Busie, Caleb Norton, Ben Busie and Robert Jones serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the funeral home.
