Ms. Joanne Marie Sand, age 79, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life surrounded by the love of her family.

Joanne was born in July 1946 in Queens, New York, daughter of the late Charlotte Marie Sprague and Herman Joseph Borchers. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Herb Bradenstein.

A 1964 graduate of Marywood Seminary in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Joanne carried her strong will and independent spirit throughout her life. She was formerly employed with Shaw Industries.

Joanne truly marched to the beat of her own drum. She was steadfast in her ways, strong in her convictions, and never afraid to speak her mind. She loved her family deeply and in her own unique way showed that love through her strength, loyalty, and presence. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she cherished most.

She had a love for travel and adventure, always eager to explore what life had to offer. Whether near or far, Joanne embraced new experiences with courage and curiosity, never afraid to step into the unknown.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Caycie Sand; her beloved grandchildren, Mollie Sand and Katie Wilson, all of Dalton, Georgia; and her sister-in-law, Jean Bradenstein of Long Island, New York.

Graveside services to celebrate the life of Ms. Joanne Marie Sand will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
