With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Glenda “Joyce” Henry Blake, age 83, who went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2026.

Joyce was born on July 9, 1942. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Hugh D. Blake Jr.; her parents, W.D. and Irene Henry; and her sister, Carol Boling.

She is survived by her devoted son, Keith Blake; her daughter, Lori (Reed) Johnson; and her beloved grandsons, Elliott (Raven) Johnson and Brayden Johnson, all of Dalton. She also leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends whom she cherished deeply.

Joyce was a faithful and devoted member of Olivia Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She found great joy in serving her church and community. She was an active quilter and proud member of the Busy Bee Homemaker Club and the Dalton Quilt Guild, where she shared her talents and formed lasting friendships. Joyce especially loved supporting her grandsons in their many activities and sports, and she treasured time spent camping with her family and friends.

She attended Atcooga School and was a 1960 graduate of Valley Point High School. Joyce retired after many dedicated years of service from Dalton Paving & Construction.

The family will receive friends at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home in Chatsworth, GA on Friday, April 10, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, April 11, from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM. The service will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend John Everett officiating. Internment will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

Joyce will be remembered for her kindness, her steady faith, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
