Fred L. Masters, age 82, of Rocky Face, Georgia passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at Parkridge Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred William Masters and

Bessie Lee Masters; brother Kenny Masters; and his nephew, Michael Masters.

Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a Vietnam veteran who served 10 years in the United States Navy serving as a non-commissioned officer as Fire Control Technician Second Class. Fred was on the naval team that invented the first radar guided rocket system for the United States Navy. He was a master craftsman with a passion for woodworking. Fred was the owner of F. L. Masters Construction Company that built Northwest High School in 1975. He loved racing, owning and driving #57. Fred was an avid Republican who loved to talk about politics with everyone who would listen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janis Smith Masters; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Masters Carter, Faye and Hoyt Shepard; stepson and daughter-in-law Greg and Tammy Wilkins; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Robert Tinker, and Pam and Ken Cowan; daughters and son-in-law, Amanda and Ray Grossman, and Becky Masters Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00pm at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
