Obituary

Emma Mae Cox, age 94, of Dalton, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Luke Cox; parents, Tinker and Nola Headrick; brothers, Jimmie, Tommy, and Leroy Headrick; and sisters, Mildred Cline Rich, Raymona Spivey, Betty Morris, Aline Bandy, Jeanette Kersey Cox, and Mary Jo Cox.

Emma was a faithful member of Deep Springs Baptist Church. She was well known for her baking skills and her family’s favorites were Chocolate Pie and Coconut Cake. Emma was also famous for her daylily beds and truly loved her special neighbors. She loved to fish and spend time at Lake Weiss in Alabama. Emma was a loving wife that adored her husband, Luke, who she was married to for 57 years. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Stanley Richardson; sisters, Bobbie Hawkins, and Wanda Baggett; brothers, Billy Headrick, and Steve Headrick; grandchildren, Valerie Richardson, and Benjamin Richardson; great grandchild, Elliott Richardson; special sisters and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Noel Caldwell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM.

Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
