Clara Sue Tipton, age 88, of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center in hospice care.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Whitmire, her husband of 43 years Randall Tipton Sr.; parents, Rip and Ollie McKinney; beloved granddaughter, Mandy Whitmire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Aaron and Sybil Guinn, Lewis and Katherine Guinn, Leon McKinney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Zet and Byron Hefner, Margarett and Bob Johnson and Katie Belle McKinney.

Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved Hallmark movies, Georgia Bulldog football and cherished spending time with her five great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Staten; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sandra Whitmire; grandchildren, Adam Staten, Airica (Hunter) Meyer, and Josh Whitmire; great grandchildren, Brecklyn, Tinley, Rhodes, Graham, Lennon Meyer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Tipton will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Plumley officiating.

Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
